Ralph Lauren ModelIf I were to give an award for a big beautiful butt Serena Williams would be my choice. That gal can really weigh in on the topic, if you know what I mean. And I’m not the only one who thinks so. Check out ESPN the Magazine’s The Body Issue where the glossy Williams graces the cover.

One complaint from columnist Greg Couch who wrote the article. Serena Williams may have fudged on her actual weight. She would set a positive example by owning up. I like his message that young girls should check out  Williams and the other athletes they included as these women look healthy and strong. Unlike the Ralph Lauren Model who was photo-shopped to impossible skinniness and who looks like could use a month of super-sized meals.

  • I like Greg Couch’ response to Serena Williams lie about her weight. He advises Serene to “Say that her weight is the weight carried by the current Wimbledon champ ….”

While I believe that if Serene Williams were unconditionally comfortable with her body image, she wouldn’t lie about her weight, I understand why she would assert that she weighs a number that would be socially acceptable. She, like most women are socialized to place a lot of their value on what they weigh.

Let’s face it, she is in a highly competitive profession, where numbers tell a great deal.

Could it be that saying her real weight, and being in the public on the level that she is, could mean that sponsors and coaches will treat her as less than who she is?

150 my eye. Tell the truth, Serena, and make us all feel good! My guess is about 185.
