I’m looking for stories or short essays (400-500 words) from women who have suffered from body image issues that stem from everything from how your mother or father treated you, to how you’ve dealt with adversity living in the body you were given.
The focus is on real-life vignettes from a woman’s life that captures some interesting insight or moment — everyday women like you and me who are looking for peace within.
What I’m NOT interested in:
- Graphic sexual content
- Extreme abuse
- Self help advice
I’d like to hear from gals like us in business who are looking to shine our light in the world and have been held back by our body image beliefs stemming from family — or whatever, wherever, who have interesting stories to tell about an aspect of that.
I’m particularly interested in women who are:
- Doing significant work in the world in their field, in philanthropy, in education, in business, and with their families.
- Visionaries and have help create shift in some major way in the world.
- Successful in their own right in their work but could take on a bigger role if they felt better about themselves and the way they look.
I’m also interested in:
- Mother/daughter and father/daughter relationships.
- What messages did you get from your family?
- How are you creating healthy, happy daughters?
- How are you setting an example for your children, clients, friends?
The more specific you are the better. Use vivid details, discuss specific circumstances that have stood out in your mind or your memory. Share examples of people you admire who embody strong self-esteem.
Once your blog is accepted you’ll be asked to choose a jpg photo of yourself or of something that represents your story/idea. You’ll get a link to your website and short, 3 line bio of yourself.
We would be delighted if you announce your blog contribution on your social networks, link to your own blog and tell your lists about it.
Product Review:I would be happy to review or write about your product if I believe it is a good match for the interests of our audience. Please DO NOT send it though before I have approved it. Please describe your product and it’s benefits in a paragraph and let me know how it has helped people. Products sent that have not been approved will not be reviewed. Therefore you will receive the sending address once your submission has passed my interest-o-meter. You’ll only hear back from me if I’m interested. Thanks for thinking of me and our community!
Due to the volume of submissions I can only reply to those that I feel are a good fit.
You are always welcome to post comments as often as you like and I heartily encourage you to express yourself. We are a magnificent community of women and the more we speak out the more all of our voices are heard — both internally and in the world. Thank you for participating in this dialog. You make it rich and deep and worthy.
